Jan 04,2017 icinginks 2

Want to add patterns, pictures to your chocolate pieces? You can add customized prints on chocolate candy bars, and pralines to turn up the zing a notch. What you need are some quality chocolate transfer sheets and an edible printer.

What are Chocolate Transfer Sheets?

Have you seen, and hopefully eaten, beautiful tiny chocolates with designs on the top? It’s the magic of edible printable chocolate sheets. Chocolate transfer sheets are transparent acetate sheets that are composed of an edible layer made from cocoa butter with a light dusting of confectioners’ sugar.

How Can You Use The Chocolate Transfer Sheets?

You can use these transfer sheets with magnetic chocolate molds, silicone, 3D, polycarbonate molds, etc. Firstly, these sheets are fed into edible ink printers which are equipped with edible ink cartridges to print your digital images on them. The printed images on sheets are transferred to chocolate treats which are responsible for swiveling the chocolate dessert into something more intricate, exquisite, and professional.

Moreover, chocolate transfer sheets also come in a variety of designs ranging from floral patterns, to stripes and swirls, to geometrical shapes, abstracts and so much more. But we sell only unprinted chocolate transfer sheets so you can print your own patterns or designs using our edible printer.

Edible Printing Using Chocolate Transfer Sheets:

There are two ways to perform this miracle of transformation and beautification.

One way is to get a chocolate transfer sheet printed using our edible printer system and pour melted chocolate on top of it in an even layer. Once chocolate gets hardens you can remove the chocolate transfer sheet and your design gets transferred to the chocolate.

The other way is to set the sheet to affirm in a chocolate or a silicon mold to attain a pre-molded product using a printed chocolate transfer sheet.

How to Print Chocolate Transfer Sheets Using Edible Printer System?

Get the pattern you want to print on the cocoa butter side of your sheet using an Icinginks edible ink printer. Different edible printers cater to different kinds of edible sheets, so be sure to follow the instructions on the sheets that you have. For example, Icinginks instructs to use chocolate transfer sheets with edible canon printers only because these sheets are slippery, like a transparency sheet, and Epson printer systems are not great at being able to feed slippery sheets of paper.

Next, place the sheet and pour the tempered chocolate on it. You have to cover the entire sheet with chocolate. Make sure of two things: that the layering of chocolate is absolutely even, and that the offset spatula you use to layer the chocolate does not pierce through the sheet. The layering depends on the preferences – it can be thin or thick. The melted chocolate heats the colored cocoa butter design of the sheet just enough so that it gets placed on the chocolate.

After spreading the chocolate evenly, pick up the sheet gently from two sides and drip off any excess chocolate.

Let the chocolate cool down and set up. As the chocolate cools down and sets, the cocoa butter design will get printed upon the chocolate and get separated from the acetate. Make sure you do not stress the sheet, press it firmly, or bend it.

Next, comes the process of shaping the chocolate into pieces of your preference. Using a cookie cutter, knives, or a pair of scissors, cut the chocolate into shapes that you like once the chocolate has hardened.

Peel off the plastic film from the acetate chocolate transfer sheet gently. If you want to consume the chocolate product later, let it stay on.

For use on molds, place the transfer sheet at the bottom of the mold, and make the chocolate face down, so that the image gets printed on the top instead of the bottom. You can also place the sheets on the walls of the mold so that it gets printed on the sides. Icinginks has a special range of magnetic chocolate molds that one can check out.

Storing the Chocolate Transfer Sheets:

Certain instructions have to be followed in the careful storing of chocolate transfer sheets. Ensure that it is kept in a dry place but do not allow it to freeze or refrigerate. It has to be kept away from direct sunlight. Chocolate transfer sheets have designs made from colored cocoa butter which can easily melt in hot weather or temperatures. Purchase the “Keep it Cool” or “Keep it warm” packaging by Icinginks to ensure this does not happen and the designs stay intact. Designer chocolate can be consumed in varying shapes. They can further be placed upon cakes other such desserts in designs to make it look more beautiful.
