Dec 30,2016 icinginks 0

Cakes are among the things that turn heads at a celebration: the kind that looks so delectable that even dieters are tempted to bite into it.

The days of sprinkles and homemade frosting roses are gone. So, what is trending these days? The answer is edible images. Don't you think having an image on the top of a cake is like a dream! Just imagine a wonderful image with a riot of color will be such an eye-catcher for everyone.

Having edible image printers is a breakthrough for the baking industry. The options with edible images for bakery items are endless. If you have the right type of printer, edible cartridges, and edible sheets to print your images on cakes, desserts, or even cupcakes, you are sorted.

As it is quoted “You can make someone’s day with a BEAUTIFULLY DECORATED CAKE & realize all the craziness was worthwhile”.

To begin with, decking your cake with beautiful edible images you need to get your hands on to some important tools. Here is a list of the three most vital tools needed:

1. EDIBLE PRINTER

You can use edible printers to personalize your cake with any design you choose. In addition to printing edible images, certain edible printers are capable of printing directly onto cakes and cookies. There are different types of printers available:

Cake edible image printer

Wide-format edible printer

Direct to food printer

Back feeder Top loader edible printer

You can purchase the best-suited printer as per your needs from:  https://www.icinginks.com/edible-cake-printers

2. EDIBLE CARTRIDGES

With edible image printers, only edible cartridges work. The cartridge can be used to print on wafer paper, rice paper, sugar sheets, and, chocolate transfer sheets. The colors from each cartridge are perfect for printing on cakes, cookies, cake toppers, macaroons, meringue, etc.

Edible ink cartridges are manufactured in the USA using high-quality food edible materials that are completely dairy, gluten, nut-free, and are FDA compliant. When it comes to inkjet printers such as Canon, Epson, and Brother, edible ink cartridges are the best option.

3. EDIBLE SHEETS

Cake decoration can be enhanced using edible sheets or sugar sheets. A printed edible frosting sheet is placed over the cake and is dissolved by moisture, resulting in the image sinking into it. There are a wide variety of edible sheets available that are allergen-free, gluten-free, and nut-free. Following are three different types of edible sheets:

Edible circle sheet or frosting sheet or sugar sheet or edible icing sheet

Rice paper or wafer paper

Chocolate transfer sheet

You can purchase the appropriate type of edible sheet from: https://www.icinginks.com/edible-paper

It is possible to print edible images on almost any type of icing. Below are the steps for decorating a cake with edible icing:

Step 1:
Use a frosting sheet to print the image. Use the edible printer to print the image over the frosting sheet. Leave for a few minutes to dry. For best results and avoid color bleeding, you can freeze the image for a few seconds.

Step 2:
Since the image will stay on to something sticky, frosting plays a significant role in keeping the image in place. Buttercream is the perfect frosting for this purpose, but you can use any ready-to-spread frosting. A light mist with lukewarm water can be applied if nothing is available. If the surface has been decorated, the image will not stick. Please make sure the surface has been left plain and flat before applying the image.

Step 3:
Carve out the image or pattern you want from the backing paper of the frosting sheet by cutting it out. Using a thin knife or blowing hot air with a hairdryer might be helpful for the peeling part since you don't want to rip out the image. Depending on the humidity in your area, you might need to dry it in an air-conditioned room to ensure its easy release.

Step 4:
Place the edible image over the frosting. After reacting to the moisture, the edible sheet will merge with your frosting. Lay the edible image on top and smooth it outward. Make sure it is flat and wrinkle-free. Before the merger, you will have roughly one minute to adjust the position of the image if necessary. Lay a paper towel over the frosting to ensure smooth contact.

To further lighten up your cake, you can add borders and edges.

It is time to enjoy the cake decorated with edible icing.

In the past, printing one picture on an edible sheet was too expensive, but not anymore. You can create your photo cake at home with the Edible Printer Bundle from Icinginks.

Most of our frosting sheets are gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, and FDA compliant. Every edible ink cartridge we use is tested according to a set of parameters, ensuring a high level of quality and vibrant colors.
